Hong Kong share surge more than 2 per cent, led by China banks Hong Kong  - Hong Kong shares jumped by more than 2 per cent Tuesday to record their fourth straight day of gains, finishing the day at their highest level since mid-August.

The blue-chip Hang Seng Index ended the day up 440.50 points at 21,069.81 points. Turnover was a relatively robust 71.08 billion Hong Kong dollars (9.17 billion US dollars.)

China banks listed in Hong Kong led gainers and analysts said the surge was fuelled by expectations of more Chinese government support for the country's economy. (dpa)
