IAAF postpones decision on Jamaican athletes

IAAF postpones decision on Jamaican athletes Berlin - The IAAF announced Friday that it won't rule on the doping cases involving five Jamaican athletes before Saturday's opening of the world championships.

Instead Nick Davies, spokesperson for the athletics ruling body revealed that a decision won't be made until early next week.

Yohan Blake, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence and Marvin Anderson tested positive for banned substances in June but were cleared by a disciplinary panel earlier this week due to a lack of evidence.

However, the nation's anti-doping body JADCO has appealed the decision.

Another Jamaican athlete, Sheri-Ann Brooks, who tested positive to the banned stimulant methylhexanamine, was earlier cleared due to testing irregularities that meant investigators were unable to determine the positive finding of the A sample. (dpa)
