IAS officer probing controversial deals between Vadra and DLF transferred

IAS officer probing controversial deals between Vadra and DLF transferredSenior IAS officer Ashok Khemka was transferred from the position of Inspector General of Registration Haryana to the DG Haryana Seed Development Corporation, within hours after he launched a probe into the alleged nexus between Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and DLF.

On October 12, Khemka ordered the deputy commissioners-cum-registrars of the four districts of Haryana, viz. Palwal, Gurgaon, Mewat and Faridabad, to scrutinize all documents registered from January 1, 2005 by or on behalf of Vadra.

The controversial transfer of the IAS officer comes as Congress leaders are still trying to defend Vadra and the party against allegations of corruption in certain transactions between realty giant DLF and Vadra.

The allegations were triggered by India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal, who is yet to name his recently launched political party. Kejriwal alleged that Vadra acquired a plot of land close to Manesar-Shikohpur area for Rs 7.5 crore, but later sold the plot to DLF for a whopping Rs 58 crore and used the huge amount of money to purchase premium apartments in DLF residential projects.

Khemka had cancelled the mutation of the land that Vadra had sold to DLF. Cancelling the mutation means DLF's ownership over the land stood cancelled.

Khemka, who is known as an honest and upright officer, has also requested for security as he feels "vested elements" whom he has exposed could attack him.
