Idea launches its GSM services in Orissa

Idea CellularIn a move to expand its domestic footprint, Idea Cellular, one of the leading mobile service providers, has finally introduced its GSM mobile services in Orissa, covering over 2,200 towns and villages.

The company said, it has rolled outs its service in aim to provide the residents of Orissa superior mobile connectivity, offer whisper clear audio quality, zero call congestion and high capacity, ahead of time.

During launching ceremony, the company has announced an exclusive tariff offer for its subscribers in Orissa, which would be remains valid for next six months.

Under the special-offer plan, company's mobile subscribers in the state can make calls within the Idea network at 25 paisa per minute, local calls to other network mobiles at 50 paisa per minute, while STD calls at Rs 1 per minute.

The Aditya Birla group firm has plans to introduce its complete range of affordable and innovative mobile telephony products and services for over 39 million people in the State, in coming few weeks.

The company intends to cover over 360 places in Orissa by next month and would expand its services by March,
2010, to cover remaining 2,200 towns and villages.

Idea Cellular has earmarked an investment worth Rs 1,000 crore, for expansion of its services in next three years in Orissa.

Idea, the 2.75G capable and 3G ready company, presently cover over 80% of the telephony potential of the country and is the third largest private GSM player with over 41 million subscribers across 15 telecom circles.
