Imran claims US drone strikes in FATA being conducted with govt’s complicity Islamabad, Feb. 19 : Drone strikes in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were being conducted with the government's complicity, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said.

Khan added that there would be no drone strikes and military operations if PTI comes into power

According to the Nation, Khan made these remarks during his visit to the Mehsud tribesmen's protest camp set up in front of National Press Club for the last six days against the ongoing military operation and drone strikes in South Wazirsitan Agency.

He said that due to drone strikes not only over 85 percent people of tribal areas had to leave their homes, but it also led to the closure of all educational institutions in tribal areas.

He added that when he called for holding a dialogue with Taliban, he was dubbed as Taliban Khan, but now all the political forces especially the Awami National Party (ANP) was making the same demand.

Khan said that ANP had also convened All Parties Conference (APC) at the time when the tenure of the federal and provincial governments had almost come to an end.

According to the report, the protesters have been demanding that educational institutes that are closed for the last five years be opened and army operation be suspended immediately.

They have also demanded that their land be returned to them that included 57000 houses, educational and business institutes.

They also sought free education for Mehsud students, end to drone attacks, compensation to their losses, recovery of missing persons and allocation of quota for Mehsud people in provincial and federal institutes, it added. (ANI)
