Inzamam criticizes PCB for seeking NOC from ICL players

Inzamam criticizes PCB for seeking NOC from ICL playersLahore, May 14 : Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board for asking ICL players to table `no objection certificates' (NOC) before being considered for selection in the national team.

"On one hand the PCB says it does not recognise the ICL, which it considers as an unauthorised tournament, and on the other hand it is asking the players to get an NOC from the same league. If they want NOCs then it means the PCB is recognising the ICL," Haq said.

Haq said he has failed to understand why the PCB is reluctant to take back players when they themselves are inclined to play for the country and leave the rebel league.

"Why place such unnecessary conditions on the players who want to play for their country again," The Daily Times quoted Haq, as saying.

He also slammed the board for first announcing the names of three ICL players in the preliminary squad for the Twenty20 World Cup, and later omitting them.

"Something like this can only happen in Pakistan cricket," Haq said.

Commenting on the proposed American Premier League (APL), to which the International Cricket Council has denied giving an `official' status, Haq said players would certainly join the league regardless of its status.

"I think regardless of its status players will join the APL," he said. (ANI)
