Lausanne, Switzerland - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday threatened Kuwait with suspension over a lack of autonomy of its national Olympic committee.

IOC vice president Thomas Bach said around IOC executive board meetings that Kuwait's Olympic Committee was not independent from government influence.

The IOC has given Kuwait a deadline until the end of July to set up conditions to assure the autonomy of its Olympic Committee. (dpa)
