Irish Stock Exchange witness a heavy bond trading for the year 2009

Irish Stock Exchange witness a heavy bond trading for the year 2009The Irish Stock Exchange declares the year 2009 as the busiest trading year of the history, after the year 2008. In a review the Irish stock Exchange has found that 2.3 million shares have been traded in the year 2009, as compared to 2.5 million shares in the last year.

As compared to the year 2008, the value of the shares has declined sharply to more than half to €53.4 billion, indicating the fall in the share values in the period of end of the year 2008 and starting of the year 2009.

The up-trend was seen in the trading of the government bonds and treasury bills, with a turnover that increased 3 times from €50 billion to €184 billion in the last year.

The global financial crunch affected the Irish Stock Exchange's specialist markets for fund and securities, which has been the exchanges most attractive business for past many years.
