Los Angeles - A planned movie on the life of late pop icon Michael Jackson is to open on October 30, ahead of the Halloween weekend in the United States, the industry paper Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.
Hollywood sources said Monday that Sony Pictures and concert operator AEG Live were about to close a deal worth 60 million dollars.
The film is expected to contain video footage of Jackson's last concert rehearsals shortly before his June 25 death.
High-School Musical director Kenny Ortega, who was slated for Jackson's planned This Is It comeback concerts in London, is to direct the yet-untitled movie, Variety reported.
Hollywood Reporter columnist Roger Friedman reported that 90 per cent of the money would go to Jackson's estate - his mother, his children as well as a charity to be set up in his name - while the remaining 10 per cent would go to AEG Live.
There has been no official statement by the involved parties so far. (dpa)
