JK Lakshmi Cement posts 53% growth in Q4 net profit

JK Lakshmi Cement, a leading cement maker has recorded a handsome growth of 53% in its net profit which stood at Rs 104 crore for the quarter ended on March 31, 2009.

In March quarter of financial year 2008, the company has clocked a net profit of Rs 67 crore.

Net sales during the fourth quarter surged 25% to Rs 364 crore, from Rs 291 crore in the corresponding period of previous financial year.

Further the company’s board has announced a final dividend of 40 per cent, at the rate of Rs 4 per share, for the financial year ended March 31.

However, for the financial year 2008-09, JK Lakshmi’s net profit dropped by 20 per cent to Rs 178 crore. It had recorded a net profit of Rs 223 crore in the year-ago period.

Company’s net sales during Financial Year 2009, came up to Rs 1,224 crore, from Rs 1,107 crore in Financial Year 2008.

According to reports, in Financial Year 2010, the company envisages to pump Rs 125 crore in waste-heat recovery system.

Stock of JK Lakshmi Cement marked its closure at Rs 75, after making decent increase 19% on National Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded on NSE was 1,796,681.
