Jordan's income from tourism up 2.3 per cent

Amman - Jordan's income from tourism grew by 2.3 per cent in the first seven months of the year, to 1.2 billion dinars (1.57 billion dollars), despite the global recession, according to official statistics published on Tuesday.
The number of tourists visiting Jordan in the period between January and July increased by 4 per cent, to 2.075 million from 1.998 million in the same period of 2008, a Ministry of Tourism statement said.
The number of tourists coming to Jordan in July, mostly from Gulf states, increased by 7 per cent, it added. (dpa)
