KKR defeats Deccan Chargers by 11 runsThe Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has upset the defending champions Deccan Chargers by 11 runs in the opening game of the cash rich and lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL-3) at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Deccan skipper Adam Gilchrist won the toss and elected to field first. KKR got to bad start as they lost two wickets in the very first over. O Shah and A Mathews scored 130 runs for the fifth wicket as KKR scored 161 runs for loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 162 runs, Deccan got to a blistering start as Gilchrist (54) and VVS Laxman (22) added 61 runs for the first wicket in just 5.5 overs. But after that their batting order collapsed and Deccan managed to score 150 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.

C Langeveldt took two wickets while I Sharma, L Shukla, M Kartik, Mathews and B Hodge picked up one wicket each for KKR.
