Gelsenkirchen, Germany  - SV Hamburg are after Schalke 04's Kevin Kuranyi, the former Germany striker confirmed.

"I know that my advisor has been approached," Kuranyi said on Wednesday night after Schalke's 2-1 home defeat against VfB Stuttgart.

But Kuranyi, 27, said he that he will talk with Schalke first about a contract extension beyond 2010. Kuranyi was unhappy there midway through the season but has found his form again and appears to want to stay.

Hamburg are in need of a classy forward as Ivica Olic moves on to Bayern Munich on a free transfer after the season.(dpa)
