Kyrgyz police arrest dozens protesting president's re-election Bishkek/Moscow - Police in in the central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday arrested dozens of people protesting the outcome of last week's presidential elections, media reports said.

The opposition supporters took to the streets to protest alleged widespread fraud in last week's elections that returned President Kurmanbek Bakiyev to office and to call for an annulment of the vote, according to the Interfax news agency.

More than 50 of the estimated 100 demonstrators were arrested.

Foreign election observers have described last Thursday's election as flawed, with evidence of ballot box stuffing, inaccuracies in the voter lists and some evidence of multiple voting. (dpa)
