Baghdad, Aug 15 : At least 21 people were killed and 66 wounded in a series of car bombings in the Iraqi capital Thursday, police said.
One car bomb went off in the crowded district of Alawi, which houses government offices and some foreign embassies, killing four people and wounding 12, police told Xinhua.
Another car bomb ripped through a parking lot in the northern district of Kadhmiyah, killing seven and wounding 20.
The third car bomb detonated in Bab al-Mu'dham area, killing five people and wounding 13, while the fourth bomb exploded in al-Qanat Street, killing two people and wounding 10.
Another car bomb struck the district of Shurta al-Khamsa, killing three people and wounding 11.
The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq has said that over 1,000 people were killed and more than 2,300 wounded in acts of terrorism in July, the deadliest month in more than five years.(IANS)
