33 die in Libya due to illicit liquor
Tripoli, March 12 - At least 33 people have died in the Libyan capital city of Tripoli after drinking poisonous hooch, Xinhua reported Monday.
Of the deceased, 27 cases were reported from Tripoli Medical Centre, whose head told LANA news agency that another 188 people who also consumed the countrymade alcohol were undergoing treatment at the centre.
The rest six died at Tripoli Central Hospital, the head of the internal medicine of the hospital said, adding that as many people lost their sight due to alcohol poisoning.
The alcohol was purchased in different areas in the capital and its suburbs, media reported. (IANS)
