''Balasaheb''s motivation will always give us strength for national reconstruction'': Gadkari
New Delhi, Nov 17 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Saturday it is extremely unfortunate that Balasaheb Thackeray is no more, and added that the Shiv Sena patriarch''s ''inspiration and motivation will always give us great strength for national reconstruction and socio-economic transformation of the country''.
"It is very unfortunate that Balasaheb is no more. I personally from the Bharatiya Janata Party give my condolences to Balasaheb. I feel that his inspiration and motivation will always give us great strength for national reconstruction and socio-economic transformation of this country," he said.
Recalling the veteran Shiv Sena leader, Gadkari said ''Balasaheb Thackeray was a great leader, who inspired and motivated me particularly when I was a minister in the Maharashtra Government''.
"Mumbai-Pune Express Highway, 55 flyovers in Mumbai, ceiling project, these all were the dream projects of Balasaheb. And only because of his support, the success story has to be completed. Balasaheb was the head of our family. As far as BJP and Shiv Sena are concerned, our alliance was there; but we are a part of one family. Just we have the regards for Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji, at the same time all BJP leaders have the same kind of respect for Balasaheb," he added.
Bal Thackeray, who was critically ill for the past few days, passed away at his residence ''Matoshree'' in suburban Bandra earlier today. He was 86.
"He had suffered a cardiac arrest. We could not revive him despite our best efforts. He breathed his last at around 3:30 PM," Dr Jalil Parkar, who treated the Sena supremo, told reporters after emerging from Thackeray residence Saturday evening.
Thackeray had been suffering from respiratory problems and pancreatic disease.
He is survived by sons Jaidev and Uddhav, who is the Executive President of the party. (ANI)
