Ghaziabad Feb 3 : A businessman was shot late Thursday night in Ghaziabad town 's posh Rajnagar locality, Kavinagar police said.
Some unidentified assailants shot at businessman Sanjay Madan around 11.00 p. m. near Sector-10 park when he was with his wife returning home at Panchwati Colony after closing his shop for the day, said a police official.
The man was immediately rushed to local Sarvodaya Hospital and then to the Yashoda Hospital where the attending doctors referred him to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after finding his condition critical.
His wife has lodged a complaint with the police naming the two assailants, said Ghaziabad police circle II officer Praveen Ranjan Singh.
The police are investigating the case.
The traders' organisation, Samyukta Vyapar Madal, called for a market closure and shuttered the shops in Rajnagar Sector-10 for the day to protest the attempt to kill the businessman.
Gopi Chand, president of Vyapar Mandal, threatened to call for a total shut down if the attackers were not nabbed within 24 hours. (IANS)
