Ghaziabad, Jan 17 - A man and his son have been arrested for murdering four members of a family -- three women and an infant -- here early January over a dispute over Rs. 200, police said Monday. The man's two other sons, also involved in the crime, were arrested earlier.
Superintendent of Police (City) J. K. Shahi said four members of Nawab's family -- his wife Rukhsana, 37, daughters Shama, 18, and Alia, 9, and one-year-old son Amreen -- were murdered in their house in Loni Jan 6, while Nawab himself managed to escape. Rukhsana was pregnant when she was killed.
Nawab named Riyaz and his three sons, Naeem, Kallu and Pali in his complaint to police. The latter two were arrested but Riyaz and Naeem were absconding. The two were finally arrested Monday night.
The arrested persons have confessed their crime, saying it arose over a dispute of Rs. 200 in Sahibabad area where Nawab lived earlier, before shifting to Loni.
According to police, the four, along with two other people, barged into Nawab's house. They cut off Shama's arm before killing her and then murdered her younger two siblings.
The criminals then broke into Nawab's bedroom where they stabbed Rukhsana, while Nawab escaped and reached the police station. However, the criminals had fled when the police reached the spot.(IANS)
