Yangon, Jan 16 : Myanmar President U Thein Sein and visiting French Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Alain Juppe Monday discussed recent political developments in Myanmar, state media reported.
The discussions held in the capital in Nay Pyi Taw also covered mutually-beneficial bilateral cooperation, according to Xinhua.
Juppe arrived in Myanmar Saturday on a three-day visit to the country.
The French minister also met U Shwe Mann and U Khin Aung Myint, speakers of both houses of parliament, as well as his Myanmar counterpart U Wunna Maung Lwin.
Juppe also met in Yangon Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the National League for Democracy, and representatives from other political parties, ethnic minorities and members of the civil society.
This was the first visit to Myanmar by a top-ranked French official since 1988.(IANS)
