New Delhi, May 9 : With an eye to the impending school summer vacations, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has launched a campaign for children which requires them to capture acts of kindness towards animals on camera.
'People n Animal', as the campaign is called, calls for entries from children from all across the country under two categories - art and photography. There will then be a contest and the best entries will be awarded by PETA.
"Through this campaign, we want children to explore deeds of kindness towards animals and capture those moments in photographs or art. For instance, there is this couple in Noida which takes care of stray cattle and other animals. So a picture of them doing that reflects an act of kindness," a PETA official said.
"The contest is timed in such a way so that kids have ample time to explore during their summer vacations. The last date for sending entries is August 15, 2011," the official added.
The campaign has been launched in association with the Shoobh group, an NGO. The jury will constitute well-known names like veteran artist Anjolie Ela Menon and educationist Shyama Chona.(IANS)
