Udhampur, Jan 31 : Acting on a tip off, police in in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur District have seized cannabis worth Rupees ten million.
Two men identified as Nazir Ahmed and Abdul Aziz, both residents of Srinagar, were held with 37 kilograms of cannabis.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Shakeel Beigh told media that the police department of Udhampur should be congratulated for seizing around 198 kilograms of drugs since 2011.
"Since last January we have seized over 198 kilograms of cannabis. The police department of Udhampur has to be congratulated for their sincere efforts," said Beigh.
The smugglers later confessed that they were to deliver the consignment to a drug dealer in New Delhi.
The vehicle along with narcotics was immediately seized and both the smugglers were arrested under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA). (ANI)
