Brazil's Rousseff 'sad to miss' Rio Olympic Games party

Brasilia, Aug 6 : Brazil's suspended President Dilma Rousseff on Friday expressed her sadness at not participating in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, the first to be held in South America, that took place in the famed Maracana Stadium.

"I am sad not to attend the live and colourful party. However, I will be watching it, encouraging Brazil," Rousseff said in a tweet.

Brasilia, July 7 : Brazil's suspended President Dilma Rousseff failed to attend her defence hearing in front of the Senate's impeachment commission.

Rousseff was expected to appear to speak in her own defence on Wednesday but instead sent a written response presented by Jose Eduardo Cardozo, her lawyer and former Justice Minister, Xinhua news agency reported.
