Baltic Fashion Award goes to Polish, German designers

Baltic Fashion Award goes to Polish, German designers Heringsdorf, Germany - Polish and German fashion designers received Baltic Fashion Awards on Saturday, a prize sponsored by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the three popular sea resorts, the so-called Kaiserbaeder of Heringsdorf, Ahlbeck and Bansin.

The German Adrian Sommerauer was awarded for his menswear "London" collection, while Antonia Goy of Berlin was honoured for her women's collection "Flap."

Polish designer Gregor Gonsior was recognized for his "Buffo Buffalo Bombast" collection, inspired by circus and Baroque fashion.

The prizes, each worth 7,500 euros (10,000 dollars), have been given since 2002 to foster the design industry in the Baltic region.

There were 80 entrants in the competition. Ten finalists presented their work in fashion shows before the jury and audience on Saturday. (dpa)
