The mother of ‘Big B,’ Teji Bachchan died on Friday after prolonged illness. The shock plunged Bachchan’s family into mourning

Ninety-three-year-old Teji Bachchan breathed her last at the Lilavati Hospital.

Wife of renowned and great poet Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mrs. Teji was suffering from various problems, and had been in hospital for a year.

Last month, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after her condition got worse.

Earlier, members of the Bachchan’s family, comprising sons Amitabh and Ajitabh, grandson Abhishek and his wife Aishwarya, reached Lilavati Hospital after getting the news that her condition deteriorated.

Teji’s dead body was brought to Pratiksha, and her last rites will be performed on Saturday morning at Juhu cemetery.

Teji Bachchan was born in an affluent Sikh family of barristers in Lahore. She was married to poet Harivanshrai Bachchan in 1941.

Dr. Bachchan and Teji won wide praise during their younger days as a singing pair at literary meets.
