K-Fed’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan confirmed that she failed to show up at his office where she was supposed to undergo a questioning in the couple’s custody battle.
"I was told of a general [medical] condition, and [Spears] felt she couldn't attend, " People quoted Kaplan, as saying.
A new date has been selected, but not revealed.
Kaplan indicated he "will pursue" a court sanction against Britney for not showing up for the deposition.
The testimony was expected to last no more than one day, and Britney was expected to be questioned about her past drug and alcohol use, her alleged failure to follow court orders etc.
In an email, Spears' pal Sam Lufti insisted that the ‘illness’ was not just another evasion tactic.
"She's sick, both physically and high anxiety. Millions of press outside. It's too much, " he said.
The couple are battling over custody of their sons Sean Preston, 2 and Jayden James, 1.
For the moment, Federline has primary physical custody, while Spears has been awarded supervised visitation rights. (ANI)
