London, May 9: Carla Bruni's pregnancy may not be able to boost husband Nicholas Sarkozy's ratings as President in the next elections.
Sarkozy''s approval ratings have plunged to an all-time low, despite rumours that the French first lady is pregnant with twins and is due in October.
According to polls, a mere 21 pc of the country supports Sarkozy's Presidency, reports the Telegraph.
Sarkozy, 56, had hoped that claims of his 43-year-old ex-supermodel wife expecting twins would lead to a baby boost in his ratings.
However, the President's hopes of being re-elected thanks to a change in his family circumstances seem to have been dashed already.
Bruni is said to be preparing for an October delivery just seven months before France goes to the polls for the 2012 presidential elections. (ANI)
