Los Angeles - The political thriller Eagle Eye perched atop the North American box-office rankings in its debut weekend, snatching up 29.2 million dollars in three-day gross revenue, according to preliminary studio estimates issued Sunday.

The movie stars young Hollywood star Shia LeBeouf as a man forced to participate in a conspiracy against his will.

Eagle Eye easily led the second-place movie, Nights in Rodanthe, a middle-aged romance starring Diane Lane and Richard Gere. Another weekend debut, it had ticket sales of 13.6 million dollars from Friday to Sunday. (dpa)
