‘Hip-hop has become mellow due to drug consumption by peers’: Jay-Z

‘Hip-hop has become mellow due to drug consumption by peers’: Jay-Z Washington, Oct 1 : Jay-Z has revealed that he believes hip-hop has become more “mellow” over time due to the use of marijuana by modern artists.

The 41-year-old rapper also said that the hip-hop genre has changed over the years and has gone on to become less intense due to the drug consumption by some of his peers.

“Public Enemy were a great force in the 80s. Chuck D was a powerful speaker and a great thinker. The intensity of life on the street in the 80s is right there in that mix,’ Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“Hip hop sounds get mellower in the 90s, when people started smoking more weed,” he added. (ANI)
