London, Nov 2 : Hugh Grant is `delighted' to have become a father for the first time, after a `fleeting affair' with a mysterious woman, believed to be a Chinese actress, who is 19 years his junior.

The 51-year-old actor, who has been linked to Tinglan Hong, was reported to be at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, when the baby was born.

On Tuesday night, the actor's spokesman confirmed the news but kept the identity of the mother under wraps.

"I can confirm that Hugh Grant is the delighted father of a baby girl," the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

"He and the mother had a fleeting affair and while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive."

"He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms," the spokesman added.

British reports suggested the baby was born by Caesarean section on September 26 at the Portland Private Hospital, central London and used the name `Sophie' Hong during her stay.

A source had earlier told US Weekly magazine that he is not with the baby's mum anymore.

"He is beaming about his daughter. He is not with the mum anymore but he''s absolutely thrilled," the source said. (ANI)
