Washington, Oct 11 : Actor Mark Wahlberg has revealed that his role of a tough cop in ‘The Departed’ was based on his mum.

The actor, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role in the 2006 flick, asserted that he used his tough-talking, no-nonsense mother for the basis of his role of Sean Dignam.

"It's loosely based on my mother... She's crazy, man, and she likes to put me in my place,” Contactmusic quoted Wahlberg, as saying.

The actor also said that his mum reminds him that he is her son and no movie star.

"I've had some success over the past few years but every time I come home or every time she comes to see me she reminds me that I am no better than anybody else,’ he said.

"(It's tough) when you're mother's in front of your friends and she's going, 'You're not a f**king movie star, I don't give a f**k who you think you are,” he added. (ANI)
