London, January 18 : Martin Scorsese has been honoured with the Cecil B DeMille Award for a lifetime of work in cinema at the Golden Globes.
The 67-year-old received a standing ovation at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Longtime friend and collaborator Robert De Niro presented the Departed director with the accolade while hailing the Oscar-winner’s passion for filmmaking.
“Marty sleeps, drinks and eats film... I hear there are videos on the internet of Marty having sex with film," the Mirror quoted De Niro as saying.
He added: "We''re like an old married couple. We built a life together, we have great memories -- we just don''t sleep together anymore."
Leonardo DiCaprio later joined De Niro in the introduction, dubbing Scorsese "a master filmmaker and a generous, patient teacher.” (ANI)
