Gary Glitter sentenced to 16 yrs in prison for child sex abuse

London, Feb 28 - Former musician Gary Glitter has been sentenced to jail for 16 years for sexually abusing three young girls between 1975 and 1980, it has been revealed.

Judge McCreath told the pop rock singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, that the musician did all of them real and lasting damage and did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for himself of a wholly improper kind, the BBC reported.

London, Jan 23 - A woman revealed her story in court how Gary Glitter had sex with in a Leicester hotel room in 1977 when she was only 12.

During the 70-year-old singer sex offence hearing at Southwark Crown Court, the jurors heard the victim that she had arrived to see the star perform at a Leicester nightclub with her mother 38 years ago, and after they met him backstage, he invited them back to his suite at the Holiday Inn, Sky news reported.

The charges relate to two women who were aged between 12 and 14 at the time of the alleged offences between 1977 and 1980, the BBC reported.

Baljit Ubhey, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London, said that they had carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service.
