Mumbai, May 8 : Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is launching a female director for the first time with "Gippi" under his banner, says talent is above gender.
Sonam Nair makes her directorial debut with "Gippi", produced by Karan's Dharma Productions, which traces the changes in the life of a teenage girl.

"Madhuri Dixit is the queen of dance. The songs she has done are iconic... she is the mother of those entertaining songs," the 41-year-old said here Tuesday at the screening of his another production venture "Gippi".

Mumbai, April 25 : The Hindi film industry has become "disciplined and structured", says director Karan Johar, but feels that "love and compassion" that used to bind people together in olden days have disappeared.
Not new to the industry, he is the son of late producer Yash Johar, the man behind films like "Dostana", "Agneepath" and "Hum" and founder of Dharma Productions, one of the most prolific filmmaking banners in Bollywood.

Mumbai, April 23 : Filmmaker Karan Johar has reportedly turned stylist for "Bombay Talkies" co-directors and is giving them tips for their red carpet appearance at the 66th edition of Cannes International Film Festival.

Mumbai, April 23 : Actress Mallika Sherawat, who will soon be seen on a reality show hunting for her Mr. Right, feels filmmaker Karan Johar could be a right match for her.
The "Murder" girl will be seen in TV reality show "The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayaalon ki Mallika", in which she will scout for her soulmate.

Mumbai, April 19 : Choreographer Remo D'Souza has certified filmmaker Karan Johar as a "good dancer" who can do some really "professional spins".

Mumbai, April 6 : Filmmaker Karan Johar has reportedly got the rights to four recorded classics composed by the late Madan Mohan for his production "Bombay Talkies". He is said to have got them free of cost.

New Delhi, Jan 11 : Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that his next production venture will be titled "Hasee Toh Phasee", which stars Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra as the lead pair.
Dharma Productions will co-produce the film with Phantom Production and Vinil Matthew will direct "Hasee Toh Phasee".
This will be Siddharth's second film with Dharma Productions after his debut movie "Student Of The Year".

New Delhi, Jan 8 : Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has blocked dates for releases of its three films "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Gippi" and "Ungli".
The first release will be children's film "Gippi". Directed by debutant Sonam Nair. It will come out April 5, and marks the production house's first association with a female director.
Riya Vij, 13, is likely to play the lead role in "Gippi".

New Delhi, Nov 23 : Three of Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar's films will be screened at the Marrakech International Film Festival, to be held Nov 30-Dec 8.
"Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", released in 2001, will be screened on the opening night, and the event is expected to be attended by megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Karan himself.

"Lots of conjecture on my next... none of it is true! Will announce details only when everything is final... as of now its still SOTY on my mind," tweeted Johar.
