London, January 15 : The final days of late Hollywood legend Paul Newman have been chronicled by a long-term friend A. E. Hotchner in his new book.

The tome titled `Paul and Me: 53 Years of Adventures with My Pal' reveals the `Absence of Malice' star's fight with leukaemia.

"Hotchner witnessed the beginning of the decline of Paul''s health when he started to withdraw from commitments at age 80, announcing he was giving up acting because he could no longer remember lines," the Daily Express quoted a publishing source as telling the National Enquirer.

Washington, Oct 3: Broadway's theatre bosses will pay their tribute to late actor Paul Newman by dimming the lights of New York's famous district for one minute on Friday.

At 8pm Eastern Time, marquees outside theatres across Broadway will lower their lights in recognition of Newman's contribution to the New York stage.

The 83-year-old actor was recently seen looking very frail and thin as he chatted to a doorman outside his apartment.

He was pictured just hours after leaving hospital.

“He looked painfully thin. It’s heart-breaking to see him now,” British tabloid The Sun quoted an onlooker as saying.

Washington June 12 : Paul Newman's friend and business partner A. E. Hotchner, is denying a report, which quotes him saying the actor is fighting cancer.

Hotchner has told Access Hollywood that he is not aware if the 83-year-old is suffering from any illness.

“I saw him last week and he seemed fine. I have no knowledge of any diagnosis or doctors," E! Online quoted Hotchner, as saying.

According to a report, Hotchner confirmed that Newman was battling the disease for 18 months.

London, June 8 : Hollywood legend Paul Newman is reportedly dying of lung cancer.

According to US magazine reports, the double-Oscar winning star has been diagnosed with the disease at New York’s Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre, where he is an outpatient, reports the Daily Star.

The 83-year-old actor, a former chain-smoker, is said to be under the care of a leading oncologist.

A family member said: “It’s so awful. He’s dying.”

The ‘Butch Cassidy’ star decided on financially aid the institution after he came to know that his daughter Elinor’s sister-in-law Michelle was being treated for breast cancer.

London, Oct 4 : Hollywood legend Paul Newman has contributed around 20,000 pounds to help breast cancer patients in south west Wales.

The donation came from Newman's Own Foundation, the charitable trust set up by the star.

The Oscar-winning actor gave the donation to Swansea NHS Trust for patients at the Breast Care Centre at Singleton Hospital, reports the BBC.
