London, November 29 : Victoria Beckham has solidified her place in the fashion world by winning the Designer Brand of the Year at the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

She won the award after beating the likes of Stella McCartney, Tom Ford and Burberry.

The former Spice Girl is moving away from her WAG status and building a solid career in fashion.

After moving to the US, she showed her first collection at the New York Fashion Week, for which she produced 400 dresses and had nine retail partners internationally.

Today, her line makes 5,000 pieces to be sold in over 300 stores worldwide.

Beckham has indicated that she is serious about her business and it isn’t a celebrity collection that will come and go.

“This isn’t about a celebrity line that will come and go,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying at WWD’s Apparel and Retail CEO Summit in New York, earlier in November.

“Though I’m trying to take baby steps, the business is growing very quickly,” she said.

“Our turnover year-over-year has increased over 120 per cent. I think to anyone’s standards that’s very impressive,” she added. (ANI)
