Los Angeles, March 28 : Singer Mariah Carey, who is expecting twins with singer husband Nick Cannon, was taken to hospital after she started to have contractions on their wedding anniversary.

"So the babies really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary!" she wrote on her Twitter page, reports usmagazine. com.

"I started having contractions last night (Saturday)... went 2 the hospital. Finally they said I could come home after they got it under control. but hey almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!!"

The singer has two weeks until her due date. (IANS)
