Tatum O'Neal pleads guilty to drug offence

Tatum O'NealNew York - Former child actor and Oscar winner Tatum O'Neal pleaded guilty Wednesday to disorderly conduct stemming from her drug arrest in June.

The actress, 44, had claimed to have overcome her drug addictions in a 2004 memoir, but she was arrested after buying crack cocaine from a street vendor on June 1 in Manhattan. On Wednesday she pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to attend two half-day drug treatment sessions and pay a 95 dollar fine.

O'Neal is the youngest Oscar winner in history, grabbing a supporting actress award for her role in the movie Paper Moon opposite her father Ryan O'Neal.

O'Neal is due back in court to check on her progress in September. If she has fulfilled the court order the charges against her will be dismissed. (dpa)
