Washington, Dec 19 : Adele has admitted that she always refused to try out for a reality singing show when young, as she feared that she’d make a fool of herself on live television.

The 23-year-old singer knew that she wanted to be an entertainer from the age of 12 but shunned the idea of participating in reality shows like ‘The X Factor’, in case she messed up her performance.

“We’d be watching The X Factor, and my family would tell me I should go on,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Cosmopolitan magazine.

“But then you’d see a parent on the show saying, ‘My child is the next Mariah (Carey),’ and the kid would be rubbish. So I’d look at them and think, ‘F**k you, you just want me to be embarrassed for a good laugh’,” she added. (ANI)
