Loyd Grossman devastated after his product poisons two children
Loyd Grossman, a television presenter, is devastated after hearing that one of his jarred curry sauces has resulted in poisoning two children in Scotland, according to Loyd's agent Peter Schnabl.
The two children, who contracted botulism from his korma sauce, are now are recovering in Yorkhill Children's Hospital, Glasgow. The brother and sister form Forth Valley area felt ill after they ate some of Loyd Grossman korma sauce last week. The pair were taken into hospital in the Forth Valley NHS area last Wednesday.
Mr. Schnabl said: "We just can't explain how this could have happened, because there are security guards in the manufacturing process plus also the botulism should have been killed by the acidity of the sauce itself. Obviously Loyd is quite devastated about it, as anybody would be. We are all furiously trying to get to the bottom of it."
About 1800 jars of the sauce have now been removed from shops from across the UK. Health officials in the country have recalled 47,000 jars of the sauce following the incident.
Premier Foods, which manufacturers the sauce, said that it is "working urgently with the authorities" to investigate the cause of the incident.
