Maruti launches five CNG models

Maruti launches five CNG modelsIn a bid to regain the lost market share in the domestic circuit, the country's largest car-maker, Maruti Suzuki India, on Friday launched five of its models in CNG versions, including the best-selling Alto.

While the other four models introduced with the alternative fuel option are compact cars Estilo and WagonR, multi-purpose vehicle Eeco and mid-sized sedan SX4, it is to be mentioned here that the five models are priced between Rs 3.23 lakh and Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

It may be noted here that the move comes at a time when the company's market share has slipped below 50 per cent this fiscal. It is believed that the company has planned a solid strategy to make a comeback which includes the launch of Alto K10 and the A-Star automatic which is expected in the coming week.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said that this is a first instance where an Indian automotive manufacturer is offering a factory fitted CNG option to the Indian consumer.

Moreover, Nakanishi also highlighted the point that the company expects to increase its market share to over 50 per cent again with the launch of these five new CNG cars.
