Maruti Records 15% Growth In February SalesIndian car market head Maruti Suzuki announced that its sales during the last month (February 2011) surged 15.5% to 1,11,645 units.

In a declaration, the company said, "Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,11,645 vehicles in February 2011. This includes 10,102 units of exports. The company had sold a total of 96,650 vehicles in February 2010."

As per the statement, the company registered a growth of 19.8% in its sales in the Indian market, which remained at 1,01,543 units as compared to 84,765 units during the same period of 2010.

In the meantime, the company's exports dropped 15% to 10,102 units as against 11,885 units in the corresponding period of last year.

Section-wise, Maruti recorded an increase of 19.4% for its compact car section A2 at 72,090 units. Cars, which fall under this section comprise Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star.

The company's sedan segment comprising the SX4 and Dzire reported an increase of around 27.05% with sales of 13,024 units.

The newly rolled out luxury-sedan from Maruti Suzuki Kizashi recorded an opening sales of 25 units for February 2011.

During February 2011, the company also launched its much awaited SX4 Diesel, which is cleaner and more fuel effective as compared to all comparable cars in its class.

The stock of the company, on March 01, closed at Rs 1292.90, up 7.1%, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The share price has seen a 52-week high of Rs 1599.90 and a low of Rs 1150 on BSE.

Current EPS & P/E ratio stood at 79.10 and 16.34 respectively.
