Of meditation and life skills

Brahma Kumaris, a charitable organisation, is conducting a series of life counselling sesions, says ASHISH VIRMANI

The Brahma Kumaris are holding a series of life counseling sessions — Rajayoga meditation, as well as techniques on achieving stress-free living, relationship management, achieving happiness and overcoming anger — for the public on three days: February 27, 28 and March 1.

Conducted by Shivani, a leading teacher among the Brahma Kumaris, the Rajayoga sessions teach meditation for healthier living and for greater effectiveness in daily life.

Using visualisation and a spoken commentary to aid the meditation process, the two-hour course aims to achieve a serene state of mind ultimately in order to deal with the realities of life. The courses on the three days teach the basic principles of Rajayoga meditation which are free of charge for people who wish to participate.

The sessions on stress-free living, improving relationships, happiness and overcoming anger teach techniques to achieve what the respective courses denote.

Follow-up courses are available subsequently on a one-to-one basis or for corporates at the Brahma Kumari institutes throughout the city. At the climax of the three-day meditation camp, the Brahma Kumaris will be holding a Rusian ballet programme on Sunday March 1, at the Bhaidas auditorium. The ballet will be performed by Russian members of the community who practice Brahma Kumari meditation techniques. This programme is by invitation.
