The news is that former skipper and coach of Pakistan cricket team Javed Miandad has criticized Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan for his verbal volley at Sunil Gavaskar on multiple captain theory prior to the start of IPL-II.

It may be recalled here that SRK, owner of Kolkata Knight Riders team, supported team coach John Buchanan's multiple captain idea and had criticized Gavaskar for his comments against the Aussie coaching method.

Gavaskar, in a newspaper column, had criticized Buchanan's theory saying too much importance is being accorded to the Australian, who is a failed first-class cricketer and is only trying to get lucrative jobs for "his Queensland pals".

Paying tribute to Gavaskar on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Miandad speculated if the celebrated batsman was yet to win the respect of his "rich and famous" fellow cricketers in spite of his contributions for the Indian cricket team.  

In a book compiled by journalist Debashish Dutta, Miandad said: “It happened before the Indian Premier League-2 got under way in South Africa, but it still rankles me. I simply cannot tolerate the insult Shah Rukh Khan heaped on our icon.”

"Even my fellow cricketers in Pakistan were shocked,” added Miandad.

Apart from Gavaskar, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly too expressed resentment to the multiple captain idea.
