Mukesh Ambani remains richest Indian for the sixth year

Mukesh-AmbaniMukesh Ambani, who is the Chairman & MD of Reliance Industries, retained his position as the richest Indian person for the sixth straight year with a net worth of $21.5 billion.

According to Forbes , Mukesh Ambani is the twenty second richest person in the world this year while the second richest Indian, Lakshmi Mittal is at 41st position with a net worth of $ 16.5 billion. The third position in India was occupied by Azim Premji ahead of Dilip Shanghvi, Shashi & Ravi Ruia, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Savitri Jindal, Sunil Mittal, Shiv Nadar, K P Singh and Anil Ambani.

"Mukesh Ambani's fortune dropped $1 billion ( Rs. 5,490 crore) though he remains India's richest person and his Reliance Industries remains (the) country's most valuable company," Forbes said.

The Forbes' 2013 list of the world's richest people showed that India had a total of 55 billionaires in the list of 1,426 billionaires from across the world. The top 100 list has three Indians with Azim Premji at the 91st position, according to the latest data.

Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim remained the richest person in the world with a net worth of $ 73 billion, followed by Bill Gates with $ 67 billion, Spain's Amancio Ortega with $ 57 billion, Warren Buffett with $ 53.5 billion and Larry Ellison with $ 43 billion in top five.
