The National Commission for Women (NCW) wrote to the information and broadcasting ministry to make sure that NDTV Imagine premiered 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega', the second of the Swayamvar series, does not represent women in an inappropriate manner.

NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas said, "We have sent a letter to the information and broadcasting ministry to ensure there is no indecent portrayal of women in the programme."

While talking to media, Vyas stated that after watching the ad on TV, NCW forwarded its request to the Ministry.

The letter was forwarded because the NCW wanted to guarantee that there was no inapt portrayal of women.

She added that the title 'swayamvar' itself hinted commodification of women.

Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul will start his search for a life partner on TV starting Feb 01.

Rahul, who had divorced his earlier wife, will select his partner from a total of 15 women who were chosen after much search from more than 16,000 aspirants all over India.

Vyas stated that the rights body had also raised worries during Star Plus's reality show 'Sach Ka Saamna'during the last year.
