Nepal’s business community welcomes republic declaration

Kathmandu, May 31 : The business community in Nepal has welcomed the declaration of Nepal as a republic by the Constituent Assembly (CA).

According to Nepalnews, the Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the top body of Nepal's private sector, the Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC), the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) and many other organisations welcomed the declaration of the CA.

They also congratulated Nepali people and political parties for the historic change in the country.

"The democratically-elected representatives have the responsibility to write a new constitution and to act as an interim legislature to fulfill the people's aspirations for sustained democracy," FNCCI said.

The Hotel Association has urged all to come together to build economically prosperous and peaceful Nepal.

Meanwhile the Embassy of Nepal in London celebrated declaration of republic in Nepal by hosting a reception and observing an official holiday.

Speaking at the reception, Murari Sharma, Ambassador of Nepal, said the day marked the realisation of the people's desire of several decades to write their own constitution.

He congratulated the Nepali people for making themselves master of their own fate by abolishing the monarchy.

The Nepali Americas Council (NAC) congratulated everyone involved in this peaceful transition of the country from the 240 years old monarchy to a democratic republic.
