New Australian world record: driving licence loss

New Australian world record: driving licence lossSydney  - An Australian teenager lost his driving licence just 45 minutes after it was issued when he was clocked at 45 kilometres per hour over the speed limit on a Melbourne highway, police said Friday.

The 18-year-old man had his brand-new licence suspended for six months and was fined 421 Australian dollars (378 US dollars).

"I don't think he quite realized the seriousness of travelling at that sort of speed," senior constable Bob Kucia said. (dpa)
