The new BlackBerry PlayBook to be launched soon

blackberry-playbookThe BlackBerry PlayBook which was sold along with its Wi-Fi features will enable tethering to a BlackBerry smartphone, thereby providing users with the tablet access to the cellular network of the smartphone. Along with all the usual features like calendar, messaging and Web-browsing features operating on the smartphone, according to the RIM officials, as they informed on Thursday.

Besides, a BlackBerry smartphone belonging to a user and his PlayBook are linked with the help of Bluetooth to a company's BlackBerry Enterprise Server. After that the company's IT shop will have the capacity to establish controls while tethering works, as explained by the RIM officials.

The tablet by RIM will be shipped to North America in the first three months, though its price is yet to be declared.

The PlayBook was showcased previous week at the International Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. However, the features of tethering haven't been much publicized, according to Ryan Bidan, the senior product manager for PlayBook at RIM.

Bidan however adds that the PlayBook has been designed by RIM so that users will not be afraid to carry it with them to meetings and it will be very useful.
