NHS health services moving in opposite direction

NHS health services moving in opposite directionAccording to health experts in the UK, the different systems of the NHS are moving in their won different directions and may create deep divisions among them.

On the one hand when NHS in England is focusing on greater use of the private sector, on the other hand, the NHS is Wales has successfully completed the eliminate the use of private sector hospital.

The UK government's Health Bill, which was published in January, focuses on improving competition and choice and encouraging the use of the private sector in proving health services.

The different paths taken by the NHS heads in England and Wales could create differences in the way health services are managed in the UK in the coming years. New large health boards were founded in Wales in 2009, which effectively eliminated competition fro the health sector and many patients simply do not have a choice of another alternative.

The different political approaches taken in England and Wales are ultimately both aimed at saving costs of running the health system successfully. The approach adopted by England is far from perfect but provides the freedom of choice, something which is lacking for patients in Wales. A patient does not get the hospital or the consultant of their choice going through a process of getting several approvals on various stages.
